Best Spots to Admire Rome’s Panoramic Views

Built atop the majestic Seven Hills, Rome is a wonderful medley of stunning ruins, towering medieval buildings and meandering cobbled streets. They amalgamate to craft some of the most glorious views awash with cupolas, bell towers and monuments. Below, we’ve mentioned a few amazing spots to head to catch the most sweeping views of Rome and the Vatican City.

Garden of Orange, Aventine Hill

Want to spend some blissful moments of solitude away from the hustle and bustle of the city life? Head to the Orange Garden. Located on top of the Aventino, the Giardino degli Aranci is one of the most picturesque parks overlooking the lapping waters of the Tiber. You can savour panoramic vistas of the Eternal City. For terrific views of the Vatican, climb up on to its terrace on a bright sunny morning and watch how beautifully the Vatican, the Capitoline Hill and the lower Trastevere looms ahead!

Gianicolo, Janiculum Hill

For more diverse vistas of Rome, make your way up to Janiculum Hill. It is the second-highest hill in the city and offers an expansive view of the historical centre of Rome along with the quaint Trastevere district. The Pantheon, the St, Peter’s Basilica and the Castel Sant’Angelo all lay ahead waiting for you.

Besides, there are other places of interest on the hill as well like the Fontana Dell’acqua Felice, Tempietto del Bramante, the botanical gardens and the Spanish Embassy. Each one of them is rich in historic significance and an absolute must-visit.
