Translation plugin for WordPress

Have you ever been working on a WordPress website and suddenly found the need to translate parts of themes or plugins?

Well I have. I’ve been working on many projects in Portuguese and many times couldn’t find a translation online for different components of the project. Everybody knows how unpleasant and sloppy a website can feel like when you arrive to a page full of mixed parts in English and Portuguese. It’s also really not a good policy to hack the translation directly in the code.

First I thought of getting a specific tool solely for generating the .mo and .po files, but it was then when I found this genius plugin that searches for the language file, helps you find the text to translate and generates the .mo file automatically! The name of this plugin is Codestyling Localization. Since the plugin’s name isn’t really self explanatory it can easily pass you by. This plugin has a neat search system that allows you to search for a word or phrase in the original language or one that has already been translated and allows you to translate everything on your website, even the backoffice!

I have been working on many projects in Portuguese so you can imagine how many times I’ve used this great tool.

You can find it here: http://wordpress.org/plugins/codestyling-localization/

How cool is that?
